When should the first visit to the dentist be made?

The first dental check-up for children is recommended after the first year of life. During this visit we will check the growth of the maxilla and mandible, the correct eruption of the teeth and rule out the presence of pathologies such as caries. In addition, we will help you to ensure that your children acquire proper oral health, answering questions about hygiene and toothbrushing, as well as questions related to certain practices that can be harmful to the correct oral and dental development of the child.

The stage from 0 to 3 years of age is considered to be preventive. If there is no problem, an annual visit is recommended. However, from the age of 5 years onwards, during the replacement period, it is advisable to have a check-up every 6 months.

What are the most common childhood diseases?

– Caries is the most common chronic disease in childhood with a high prevalence among preschoolers. This pathology is caused by the high consumption of sugars and has serious repercussions on children’s health.
The reasons are often related to poor oral hygiene, breast or bottle feeding and frequent carbohydrate intake.
– Dental trauma. Blows and accidents are very common among children and young people, and are one of the most unpleasant experiences for children and their parents. There are different types of dental injuries, some of which could affect the formation of the permanent dentition.
The most advisable procedure is to visit our clinic immediately for a diagnosis and the most appropriate treatment.
