Digital Photography
Digital photography is now an essential tool in our clinic, offering numerous clinical and communication advantages.
It is an additional tool in the diagnostic and treatment processes to observe the start and evolution of the case. Preoperative clinical photos are part of the initial examination and are taken during the first appointment.
We will take three types of photographs:
a) Extraoral: This involves taking a photograph of the patient’s full face, both front and profile views.
b) Intraoral: These are the shots taken inside the patient’s mouth. They help capture the soft and hard tissues in more detail, as well as the relationships between them.
c) Additional photographs: These are photographs used to expand the documentation of the case. They are used to show models, X-rays, and the progression of each step of the treatment.
The use of digital photography provides us with a series of advantages, such as:
- Facilitating communication with the patient by visually explaining the initial problem and how the treatment will be carried out.
- Being able to compare the before and after of a treatment builds trust and credibility.
- It allows for observing details that may be overlooked during the initial examination, such as smile and lip lines, tooth characteristics like shape, size, color, and negative spaces, among other aspects.
